So here I am with a new publication, THE *NIXED REPORT.  It is an alternative to the mainstream press that people have been used to reading in the past few decades.  The offering is different in this online magazine.  How so?  It acts as a magazine would.  There are graphics where appropriate just like a magazine in print.  There are also ads in it as well, or rather, there will be.  Unlike other publications prices will not be too high and out of reach, and unlike some organizations, I have no problem with people copying this publication and passing it around.

As a matter of fact, this magazine comes in two forms.

  • Online Magazine: It is published in HTML format for easy browsing.
  • Printer-friendly PDF: Instead of black background and white text, it is in reverse.  White background and black text.  Graphics are still there, but they shouldn't be a problem for most black and white printers of today.  The PDF will be more appropriate for passing this publication out to people who have never heard of it before.  In addition, there are people out there who do not have frequent access to the Internet, but would still be interested in the type of news, information, and entertainment that will be provided in this magazine.
So the inevitable question will likely arise.  What is the purpose of this magazine?  What are the goals of the founder and what do they wish to achieve?  There are three goals to this magazine:
  1. Entertain: It does not sound practical at first, but it actually is.  If a teacher in a classroom can not captivate the attention of their students, then it is really quite pointless to teach in the first place.  The same thing applies here.  The first rule is to entertain in an intelligent manner.  This can be done through essays and short stories.  By entertaining, it is much easier to do the next goal.
  2. Educate: Providing information is another key goal of this publication.  We must all strive to inform the reader of events that are often glossed over in other publications that have millions of dollars behind it.  This includes local stories from where this publication is based as well as stories from local communities.  Tutorials for how to do something with anything are included as well.
  3. Empower: It is not simply enough to educate and entertain.  It is also imperative that we help the audience apply what they read, whether a short story has a lesson to be learned, or there is a tutorial teaching someone how to do something.  The third and final goal is the most important of all time.  No matter what, teach a lesson that can be carried into your own life.

So continue onward to the next page and read more of what we have to offer.  In this issue, there are contributions from two very talented writers.  One piece is a short story that is sure to thrill, another is an opinion piece that will certainly give food for thought.  In closing I would like to say this: In alternative radio, it is very understandable that it costs money to operate.  Bandwidth and syndication can be expensive, and it makes sense that it needs to be paid for.  However, third parties who spread the word are quite important as well.  The idea being emphasized at this point is quality, not quantity.  Size is not always important.

Many have wondered how they can contribute.  Instead of dipping into your wallet, why not try setting up an Internet radio network like Robb Revere has in your local community?  It would be awesome to have at least one in every state in this country (including Alaska and Hawaii).

Twenty smaller groups can do much more to empower communities across the world than one giant organization can.  That will be the first lesson in this issue, and it will be taught over and over again.  Learn it well, and most importantly, enjoy!
