Sometimes, what appear to be glitches turn out to be things that are done on purpose. Experiments were indeed conducted on several users, and an official apology was made as a result.
Not everything Facebook does is evil, however.
An ex-employee has stated that Facebook tends to be buggy. Sometimes, what appears to be glitches turns out to be fictional stories originating from Reddit.
